Acting Essentials with Kim Krejuspt
In this 8-week acting essentials program, you will train with 16th Street’s Artistic Director, Kim Krejus, who is one of Melbourne’s most esteemed Acting Coaches.
You will work on the essential elements of craft: Voice, Movement and Acting Technique.
Voice and Movement training will support you to be courageous and authentic, to be fully expressive and transformative in your acting choices.
The focus for your acting program in these 8 essential weeks is the legendary work of Uta Hagen that is taught at HB Studio, NYC.
Uta Hagen nurtured the careers of thousands of actors, including Matthew Broderick, Sigourney Weaver, Whoopi Goldberg, Al Pacino and Liza Minelli.
Your training will focus on the 6 elements of Uta Hagen’s technique: character, circumstances, relationships, wants, obstacles and actions. You will practice the application of these in scene work.
Kim’s teaching has been informed by the great acting teachers she has trained with that include: Uta Hagen, Carol Rosenfield, Yat Malmgren, Doreen Cannon and Ivana Chubbuck. Kim utilises these same techniques when working with professional actors on set.
Suzuki-Based Movement – This method heightens the actors’ dynamic vocal strength, energy and focus, creating a centered presence. Emma Pursey is an accredited Suzuki Method teacher and critically acclaimed stage and screen actor who has performed nationally and internationally since 1997.
Voice Work – Actors develop a detailed anatomical understanding and experience of the voice and the relationship to impulses, breath and articulation, which shape its physicality. Matt Furlani is a well-known voice coach, dialect coach and actor. Working closely with some of Melbourne’s most prestigious theatre companies including MTC and RedStitch. Matt holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Voice Studies and a Bachelor of Dramatic Art from Victoria College of the Arts.
