Balancing Art & LifeSeptember 24, 2019

“A great acting teacher once said that the business of acting requires you to have the backbone of a warrior, in order to deal with the constant rejection. But the craft of acting asks you to come with a wide open heart and be as vulnerable as a child. The effort of sustaining and balancing both requires a lot.”

We are a team of creatives, those who form the operational side of 16th Street.  We get it. We are each – and often – engaged in that balancing act, holding the space between our work here on the day to day and the creative endeavours that we pursue.  There’s so much to be grateful for in being able to say that our workplace supports our artistic life – we know not everyone gets that kind of freedom in their workplaces.

We honour the artist AND the hustler in you that is doing the work, showing up, taking class, going to Yoga, maintaining relationships, staying open, staying in, saving up, going out, making it happen.  You are glorious and commendable and we are always here, cheering you on!

We are a community of artists who are interested in the pursuit of excellence through connectedness to ourselves and to each other.  We are better together. Please join us for a cup of tea, a Technique Class or at the Community launch of Company 16 on September 30th – a brand new theatre company helmed by Iain Sinclair and with the support of the 16th Street Foundation.  RSVPs are encouraged – just send us an email at rsvp@16thstreet.com.au.  We can’t wait to see you, and to share what we’ve been up to!

With love from the Team!
